Survey Cites Biggest Wood Flooring Threats
A wide ranging survey recently undertaken by the National Wood Flooring Assn. looked at the impact of the viral pandemic on the flooring industry and the outlook for 2021. Asked about the biggest long-term threat to real wood products, 38% of association members cited luxury vinyl tile (LVT) as the biggest challenge, followed by wood-plastic composites (WPC) noted by 26%. On another question, 57% of respondents said “wood-look” products have had a negative effect on real wood product sales. Looking ahead at in-demand product types for 2021, 58% said wide plank flooring, 55% picked engineered products, 46% said factory finished flooring and 45% said long board flooring would have good demand next year.
